We are living a unique moment in history. It is a quantum shift in place, similar to that produced in 1989 by the collapse of the Berlin Wall. This time, to collapse - one behind the other as unstable bowling - are the despotic regimes of the Maghreb. The Islamic world, from the Mediterranean to the Arabian Peninsula, is on fire. A fire that grows day by day and is changing the geopolitical framework of a large area as well as strategically fundamental to the planetary equilibrium. We are moving into a new era full of unknowns. The popular uprising in Tunisia with the collapse of the regime of Ben Ali was only the first, striking motion of a historical acceleration that was unimaginable even unreliable until a few weeks ago. The point is this. History knows surprised with his sudden jerk forward, with his imagination and his ability to evade the crowds and economic logic of power. Every so often (it happened in Paris in 1789 and St. Petersburg in 1917) the masses do remember that the real engine of history, it has the capacity to subvert the order, the systems break down and change course in addition to the pilots. It happens when the anger overflows. It happened in Egypt, where the despot Mubarak was forced to flee even enjoyed the support of the USA. It is happening in Libya, where the odious satrap Gaddafi came to an end. The riots will change the face of Yemen, Bahrain, Kuwait, Algeria, Iran, perhaps. No one is safe. The revolt of the oppressed is more contagious than chickenpox, more deadly bite of the rattlesnake and the bites of fugu, the puffer fish in Japan. But because the Arab world is in turmoil? Who or what led to this socio-political tsunami and what effect will it have? It is all too easy to answer. The anger these days firearm and joins the Islamic peoples, giving them the power to challenge and overthrow the tyrants, is the daughter of despair, poverty, unemployment, degradation, low wages and high cost of living, corruption and authoritarianism. The people, as in Tunis and Benghazi to Cairo, he found the courage to raise his head and claim their inalienable right to the goods: freedom, justice, dignity and even democracy, which is not really an institution's traditional Muslim world but which, today, feels the need also the poor fellah of the Nile. Even the donkeys have a threshold of tolerance beyond which plant and kicking. Therefore rejoice, because the underdogs are winning, or so it seems. But worry about their fragile successes. Will lead to new tensions and instability. Will produce a domino effect devastating. Meanwhile, prepare ourselves to be invaded by locusts. It is one of the plagues of the Apocalypse, right? But illegal immigration is not the only problem. Should worry about who will be taking the fold policy events. What moves will the new leaders of the Arab countries "liberated"? Who will choose to stay? Will they remain independent and resist foreign pressure? On the other hand, will resist the sirens of Islamic extremism and the lure of communism and anarchist libertarian? And what about the price of oil? The coming months will tell us if the flames of the apocalypse They burned the stubble and the soil made fertile, or if they did, "tabula rasa" even the little that was good. In this case, all of us will fall from the frying pan into the fire. For now, let's enjoy the story in real time is much more compelling chronicle of seedy Italian politics.
